⭐ STUDENT SPOTLIGHT ⭐ A huge congratulations to Riya for placing 2nd in the Senior Poetry category of the Mosman Youth Awards in Literature (MYAL) for her powerful piece, ‘When Will It End?’ The MYAL is an annual competition run by the Mosman Library Service, celebrating talented young writers across NSW. This year saw an incredible 522 entries, with only 10 shortlisted in each category. Well done, Riya! A well-deserved recognition of your talent and hard work! 👏📚 @catholicschoolsparra

Our Penola agriculture students had an outstanding showing at this year’s Penrith Show, taking home multiple top awards across a range of events. Highlights include: 1st Place Leppington Steer Medium Weight Class – Ella W 1st Place Ewe 4 Tooth – Abby H 1st Place Goats for Meat Trophy Class – Beau J 1st Place Goats for Meat – Indy S 1st Place Hard Feather Fowl – Beau J 1st Place Sheep Handling Experienced – Ellie J 2nd Place Ram 2 Tooth – Zack H 2nd Place Ewe 2 Tooth – Ella W 2nd Place Sheep Handling Experienced – Abby H 2nd Place Cattle Parading Experienced – Jett M Special congratulations to Jett on receiving the prestigious Next Generation Farmers award, providing scholarships and support for future study. ⭐ YEAR 12 FORMATION DAY ⭐ Recently, our Year 12 students enjoyed a meaningful and inspiring Formation Day at the Franciscan Shrine of the Holy Innocents in Kellyville. They explored how Christian discipleship helps us grow and thrive, and took time to reflect on how to live their faith in real life, all while sharing great moments together. It was a rewarding day full of faith, reflection, and community!

⭐ PENOLA DAY MASS ⭐ On Friday 22 August, our community came together to celebrate Penola Day with a special Mass in honour of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia’s first canonised saint and founder of the first school for disadvantaged children in Penola, South Australia. The Votive Mass of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop was celebrated by Fr Michael Gathuku, Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Way, Emu Plains. We thank the families who joined us in this meaningful celebration of faith, community, and the enduring legacy of St Mary MacKillop’s dedication to education and service. May her example continue to inspire us all in our journey of discipleship.

⭐ FATHER’S DAY LITURGY ⭐ Today we were blessed with a beautiful morning as we came together to celebrate Father’s Day at our College. The day began with a special liturgy, offering prayers and gratitude for the fathers and father figures of the Penola community, followed by a delicious BBQ breakfast. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event so meaningful. Your presence and support truly made it a memorable occasion. Happy Father’s Day to all!

✨ PENOLA SHOWCASE ✨ Our recent Penola Showcase was a true celebration of creativity and talent, featuring outstanding performances by our Year 7–12 Music students and impressive Visual Arts displays from Years 7, 9, 10, 11, and 12. With approximately 150 people in attendance, the evening was filled with energy, talent, and community spirit, and was described by parents as “the best one yet!” Our students shone on stage and through their artwork, showcasing the incredible growth of the Arts at Penola. Each year, it becomes more evident that the talent within our school continues to flourish. A heartfelt thank you to all the students who performed and participated, and to our dedicated Music and Visual Arts teachers for the time, effort, and guidance they provided in preparing students for the night. Special thanks to Miss Fry, Mrs Murphy, and our Year 11 Hospitality students for the event catering, and to Mrs Burke, Mr Potts, and Mr Wasson for all their hard work in making the event such a success.
