⭐ JSS DAY ⭐ The Penola Catholic College community is continuing its generous tradition of supporting Jesuit Social Services (JSS), a small community-based grocery shop powered by goodwill and volunteers next to Holy Family Catholic Parish in Emerton. On Thursday 19 March, help us make a difference for people in need by contributing the following items based on your year group. Please remember to bring your items in a bag on the day. Year 7: Breakfast - Cereal, Honey, Vegemite, Nutella, Jam/PB, Long-life Milk, Coffee, Tea, Milo Year 8: Lunch - Muesli bars, Cordial, Juice, Poppers, Crackers, Biscuits, Mustard, Pickles Year 9: Dinner - Pasta, Sauces, Rice, Taco kits, Meal bases, 2 Minute Noodles, Cake Mix, Flour Year 10: Baby - Baby food, Baby Formula, Nappies, Wipes Year 11: Bathroom - Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Toilet Paper Year 12: Hygiene - Household cleaning products, Laundry powder, Toiletries, Personal hygiene On this day we will also gather for a College Liturgy to celebrate our connection to St Joseph and St Mary MacKillop, and share in a homeroom competition as we work together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

⭐ OPEN NIGHT 2026 ⭐ On Tuesday evening, we were delighted to welcome many families to Penola Catholic College for our 2026 Open Night. It was a wonderful opportunity to share the spirit of our community and give visitors a glimpse into life at Penola. A sincere thank you to the students and families who joined us on the night. We are also incredibly grateful to our dedicated staff for the care and effort they put into preparing such a welcoming experience. A special thank you to our amazing student volunteers, who proudly represented our College as tour guides and faculty experts throughout the evening. Their confidence, enthusiasm and willingness to share their experiences truly reflected the heart of our community. 🏊♀️ 2026 SWIMMING CARNIVAL 🏊♀️ Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting our 2026 Swimming Carnival at Ripples Penrith. Our students demonstrated wonderful house spirit, enthusiasm and determination throughout the day. Thank you to Mrs Schubert and Miss Brookfield for their outstanding organisation of this event and all of Penola’s sporting events, and to our staff for their dedication and support in ensuring the day ran so smoothly. Most importantly, we commend our students for their energy, effort and sportsmanship, both in and out of the pool. A special congratulations to Tahlia, who broke the 17+ Girls Breaststroke record with a time of 44.67 seconds, and to Amelie, who set a new 17+ Girls Freestyle record with a time of 33.00 seconds. Remarkably, both of these records had stood for 18 years! Congratulations also to Jade, who broke the 12–15 Years Girls 200m Individual Medley record in a time of 3:13.32, a record that had stood for five years. These are outstanding achievements! It was a fantastic day of participation, perseverance and community spirit. 💙

🏫 PRIMARY SCHOOL VISITS ⭐ Over the past two weeks, our Principal Mrs Sparkes, Assistant Principal Mr Borg, and some of our student leaders have been visiting local Year 5 and 6 students at St Joseph's Primary School, Our Lady of the Way School, Emu Plains, Bethany Catholic Primary School, Glenmore Park, and St Nicholas of Myra Primary Penrith to share the opportunities available at Penola. A sincere thank you to our student leaders for speaking so confidently and representing our College with pride. They demonstrated true leadership and reflected the spirit of our community. 📚 YEAR 10 ASSESSMENT INFORMATION EVENING ℹ️ Thank you to our Year 10 students and families who attended the Assessment Information Evening on Tuesday, an important night for students and families, outlining NESA expectations and RoSA requirements. ✨ YEAR 8 DA VINCI DECATHLON 🧠 Some of our talented Year 8 students recently represented Penola in the Da Vinci Decathlon, an academic competition designed to challenge and extend high-potential learners. Competing as a team across ten disciplines, including Engineering, Mathematics, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography and Legacy, our students demonstrated impressive knowledge, collaboration and perseverance. In our very first year participating, Penola achieved: 🥇 1st Place in Engineering 🥉 3rd Place in Ideation This outstanding accomplishment reflects our students’ dedication, daily effort and commitment to excellence, and we sincerely thank Miss Azzopardi and Mrs Billiards for their guidance and support throughout the event. ⭐ YEAR 7: BIG FISH INTO LITTLE FISH 🐟 Our Year 7 students were recently visited by Human Connections, who delivered their Big Fish into Little Fish wellbeing session. This engaging and affirming experience was designed to support students as they navigate their transition into high school with confidence and resilience. Through interactive activities and shared reflection, students strengthened connections with one another, built confidence and explored the importance of positive self belief. The session encouraged them to see the value they each bring to our community and to approach this new chapter with courage and resilience. It was a meaningful step in helping our newest students feel known, connected and ready to make their mark at Penola!
